I have been a union activist for over 22 years. Before the creation of West Cheshire and Chester Council, I was a member of the Ellesmere Port and Neston UNISON Branch and worked for the council there. I became more and more involved during local government reorganisation and attending meeting after meeting mainly to keep my members in Ellesmere Port up to date with what was going on. I was asked to stand for the position of Assistant Branch Secretary in the new West Cheshire Branch and then Branch Secretary when my predecessor retired. I am currently seconded full time to work for West Cheshire UNISON Branch.
